slhh130's Bio

Hi all! I am a mother to a 5 year old Caleb with autism and a 3 year old Kelsey with Asperger's. He is in kindergarten and she is in pre-school. I also have many characteristics in common with the kids which makes dealing twice as hard for me-sensitive hearing, sensory, ADD, and a little auditory processing.  I am married to Dennis and we keep our hands full keeping up with the two of them.

You know its bad if (update on testing)

You know it bad if...the nurse sent a letter that was not correct (about the labs). You know its bad if...the doctor calls herself! You know its bad if...seizure activity actually shows up on an EEG in the office for an hour. You know its bad if...the neuro is calling a metabolic specialist to ask for next steps. Some of his labs were a little elevated in those things that show up in mitochondrial dysf. and other rmetabolic disorders. He had seizure activity on the EEG and is going on Topamax for seizures and headaches. (most of his behaviors stem from headaches) But his MRI said his brain was as normal as any five year old.

I know how scaring and frustrating it is. Try to take a break and relax for your sanity. I have you in my thoughts and prayers. At least you have some idea and where to go next. The hard part now is waiting to see yet another specialist and not worrying yourself sick in the meantime.

I'm so sorry to hear about all the glitches...but it must be a relief, to some degree, to know that you can help him with his headaches and that their is treatment available for his issues... Keep us posted as the whole mito diagnosis is new and we have so much to learn...

I'm sorry. I hope he gets better soon. Seizures are my worse fear for Mickie. My thoughts are with you and your little boy.
