I am a 46 year old divorced mother of 2 incredible kids.  William is 15 and has autism and KC, my daughter, is 13.  I am trying to branch out more and share the wonderful and sometimes trying experiences of raising a child with autism and a typical teenager too.  I am also hoping to learn from the experiences of others in the autism community.  William was in the hospital for 3 1/2 months being weaned off all the medication he was on.  He was on a ton of it and was still very aggressive to himself and to us, teachers, etc.  He is 6'2" and weighs 250 pounds and has no idea how intimidating he can be.  He got out and unfortunately many of his old behaviours kicked in-particulary his aggression.  He seems to know who he can "overpower" and who he can't because he often comes after me and does not go after his dad.  Recently he went after his sister, so we made the decision to have him stay with his Dad until we can get some in-home support to get this aggression a little more under control.  My daughter KC is awe inspiring, talented old soul who can always reach William when no one else can.  The teenage years are tough enough but even harder when you have a brother with autism.  She does a really incredible job handling everything that is on her plate, but I know she gets frustrated sometimes.  Hopefully, this rough patch will pass - keep us in your prayers!  I always tell both my kids they are my angels from heaven so it seemed like a logical page name.
