Greetings from Africa! My husband, Ken, and I are parents to an adorable (sometimes monster like!!) four year old, Zack. We believe he has autism, as he fits many of the criteria pretty closely, although Zimbabwe is not a good place to look for a formal diagnosis! I have a lot of people to educate about autism it seems!

This morning, not quite sure why, Zack was particularly vocal, fromt the time he got up...and the power went of shortly after that - so no teletubbies for him :( We were headed to the farm today, mostly I must admit so that Zack could make use of the large garden and border collie who loves him to bits... to wear him out a bit. Zack is not happy about school being closed!!! (I think school is better at routine than I am, and they do wear him out quite well too, even though he is only there 8-12, Mon-Fri) By the time I got to the farm I had been bombarded by words (mostly single words.. repeated many times... "white car... white car... whi car..... blue car... blue carlll boo car.... purple car... purplce car... purple car....." repeat ... repeat... repeat..... When I got to my parents house on the farm.. I leaned on the door frame and said to my mum,.... much as I love the fact that my son can now speak some words and make a noise.. I am not used to it and I am absolutely exhausted by it"
.....(he was almost totally silent - barring tantrums and grunts - until 14 February this year)....
